The Csizmadia-Honigh family is of Hungarian and Dutch descent. It is through the Hungarian origin of the family that Omar and Peter can chronicle the tradition of winemaking in the Somló region for at least four generations. The family has always had close ties with the Somló region. The Dutch heritage brought a sense of commercial reality and it was in 2006 that Royal Somló Vineyards was established.


Omar is a branding and media professional and a wine enthusiast. He is Founding Partner of Studio Hansa, a branding and strategic marketing agency based in London and working globally. He had previously worked for the BBC, Lambie-Nairn and then Kemistry, two renowned branding agencies.

Peter graduated with the WSET Diploma in 2011. He is an education management professional and researcher. He works in London for the Institute of Masters of Wine and is in charge of their European, North American and Australasian educational operations. Together they share the responsibilities of running Royal Somló Vineyards and rely on Peter’s father, who is in charge of the vineyard and the cellar operations all year round.
